In 2002 Harnet was approached by the South Australian Government to start importing Australian live oysters into Japan. There were many challenges in this business being a highly perishable item, but Harnet’s experience in the food industry saw through these issues to become a leading company importing overseas oysters. Now importing from 5 different countries to many and most famous oyster bars and restaurants in Japan, competition cant but help try to copy everything we do.
Alongside the live seafood, Harnet has delved into frozen product ever since Frank D Hart stepped away from having the Thai restaurants. Still with the love of Thai food, started importing a Harnet branded Soft Shell Crab (SSC). This venture over the many years has developed now into a multitude of different products that now is distributed to hundreds of restaurants all over Japan.
